At Our Factory…

We manufacture all of our plastic packaging products locally at our Brisbane facility with passion, dedication and integrity. Polytube, also known as blown film extrusion, is the first of the processes we manufacture here at Meridian. A tube is formed by blowing a bubble of plastic to its desired width, then we determine the gauge by the speed in which the tube is pulled through the extruder. Once our polytubes have been created we add any printing and customisation that is required, and as with all of our processes, this is done in-house at our factory. The final step to this process is cutting the tube into bags which can be finished in a variety of applications to suit your packaging needs. Most days, our factory operates 24 hours a day so that we can keep up with the demand of our happy and loyal customers, consistently delivering high quality and cost effective plastic packaging solutions.

Thinking of the environment

At Meridian we care deeply about our impact on the environment and consciously look for ways to reduce our impact on the planet. We recycle 100% of our plastic waste, 90% of which we do so in-house by feeding scrap plastic through our recycler to revert back into plastic pellets. These recycled plastic pellets are then used for the production of non-food grade applications, allowing us to provide a wider range of eco-friendly options to suit modern businesses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What different colours can you produce?

We can produce almost any colour in opaque or tinted colours as required.

Can you print on the plastic?

Our printing press can print up to 5 colours, within certain size parameters.

Is your plastic suitable for food packaging?

All of our products are suitable for food contact. Our plastic is manufactured using 100% virgin food grade resin, with the exception of some non food grade applications that we can use recycled material to make.

Can you recycle my unwanted plastic?

We do receive a lot of enquiries regarding recycling unwanted plastic. The only material we can recycle through our machine is clean low density polyethylene (LDPE).

Is your plastic biodegradable?

Whilst our plastic is recyclable, it is not biodegradable. Certain additives can be used to make the plastic biodegradable in landfill. Enquiries are welcome.

Is your plastic recyclable?

Yes! All of our plastic is recyclable. Most of what we produce is LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) with a recycling code of no. 4

Do you keep plastic bags and rolls of polytube in stock?

No, as every job is customised we don’t keep stock on hand

Do you have a price list or catalogue?

Unfortunately no, as every job is customised and every customer requires something different.

Do you make the product here in Australia?

Absolutely! All of our products are Made in Australia in our Brisbane factory. The bulk of our raw materials are also Australian made.

What type of plastic products do you manufacture?

Our blown film extruders produce flexible packaging, which are products such as polytube, bags, sheets, sleeves, centrefold etc.
